Practical Data Analytics
We all know we need strong data management systems in order to meet the needs of the population we support and to promote organizational health, but how do we build those systems for success? This training will go over the key steps of establishing a robust data driven process for your organization that will be both manageable and effective, including how to choose the metrics that are most relevant for your mission, analyze that data to measure impact and outcomes, effectively and clearly report on your findings, and develop a data driven plan of action based that addresses key areas of need. It will also review some key analytic tools, including Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, and Google Sheets, that you can use to help you with all of the above.
Intermediate Microsoft Excel
In this hands-on training, you will learn how to use Microsoft Excel to gather, analyze and report on key performance metrics for your organization. You will be guided through every step of the process, including:
* Learning how to create user friendly data entry forms in Excel that ensure that the data you get is the data you need
* Aggregating the data in a structured manner to ensure its ready for analysis
* Selecting and performing analyses for each set of data that will provide your organization with the information it needs
* Reporting on your analysis in a concise and effective manner
* Numerous quality of life “tricks and tips” to help you work more efficiently and create more visually appealing spreadsheets
In addition, this training will cover essential statistical concepts, such as central tendency, standard deviation and control limits, which are crucial tools for interpreting and reporting on data that you’ve gathered.
A basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel is necessary to gain the full benefit of this course, including navigating Excel the use of common functions such as SUM(), AVERAGE(), etc. This training will not require the use macros or scripting languages. Each participant will need to have a notebook computer with Microsoft Excel installed in order to practice the techniques taught during the training.
Strategic Planning and Crisis Management
Given these uncertain times, strategic planning is more important than ever. For any organization to survive, and for non-profits in particular, they must have a well-informed, data driven strategic plan that has been adapted to meet the demands of our new operating environment. This collaborative session has been designed to respond to that environment, and will cover topics such as:
• Crisis Management vs. Strategic Planning – how they differ and how they intersect
• Conducting an effective, actionable SWOT Analysis
• Selecting data points to objectively evaluate your current success with meeting the demands of your mission
• Choosing goals and strategies that are realistic and effective
• Creating a strategically focused organizational culture
• Reporting on progress and how to determine if your plan needs revision
This session is intended for director and executive level team members of any non-profit organization.
